While the national tour of The Lion King continues to wow audiences in Minneapolis through February 12, star J. Anthony Crane, who plays Scar, has taken some time to get reacquainted with his hometown. Crane split his time growing up between Seattle and Minneapolis, where his grandparents lived. Here’s a shot of the actor visiting the Riverview Café and Wine Bar, though he remembers it as the Crane Pharmacy, owned and operated by his grandfather and great uncle. Located at 42 Avenue and 38 Street, the pharmacy was established by his grandfather, who emigrated from the Ukraine to attend the University of Minnesota to study pharmacology. Crane Pharmacy opened for business after he graduated in the late 1920s. The Crane family also owned a movie theater across the street, which is now the Riverview Theater.
