About the Show

'Hearing the audience react tonight sent chills up my spine.'

Excitement was sky high as the cast of Catch Me If You Can celebrated the national tour’s opening at the Providence Performing Arts Center on October 7. “It was so exciting!” Stephen Anthony said of the opening night performance. Anthony stars as real-life con artist Frank Abagnale Jr., who passed himself off as a doctor, lawyer and jet pilot all before the age of 21. “To finally have this incredible response from the audience was so fun.” Merritt David Janes, who co-stars as Carl Hanratty, the FBI agent who tirelessly tracks down Frank, was equally thrilled by the buzz of the evening. “The cast has been working so hard in rehearsal, but to do it in front of an audience tonight, that as the missing piece to make this show a complete picture,” Janes said. Aubrey Mae Davis, who plays Frank’s love interest in the musical, felt the rush of opening night as well during her 11 o’clock number, “Fly, Fly Away.” “Hearing the audience react tonight sent chills up my spine and made me tear up.” No one was more proud, however, than original Broadway director Jack O'Brien, who was "astonished" by the cast's performance. "They sang that score with real distinction and attack. I came away so exhilarated." Check out this Hot Shot of the three stars on opening night, then get your tickets to see this exciting musical!
