Satisfied? NBC Would Like to Bring Hamilton to the Screen

January 14th, 2016 | By Imogen Lloyd Webber

What comes next for Hamilton? Well, NBC would like to do a screen adaptation of the Broadway megahit. "I think sure, we'd love to be able to film Hamilton in some capacity but I think it would be years before they even look at a movie or any kind of film version of that show," said NBC Entertainment chairman Bob Greenblatt, who also invested in the tuner (lucky man!).

"It's a thrilling theatrical experience," E! News reports Greenblatt as going on to say. "I think it'd be a thrilling movie or television experience, and yeah, I'd love to. I think it's unrealistic for a decade or so, but check back with me then." In the meantime, we'll have to focus on the network honcho's most recent announcement, that Hairspray will be its December 2016 live telecast.

As if you didn't know already, Hamilton is playing at the Richard Rodgers Theatre. Directed by Thomas Kail and featuring a book, music and lyrics by Lin-Manuel Miranda, Hamilton is inspired by the book Alexander Hamilton by Ron Chernow. The new musical follows the scrappy young immigrant who forever changed America, from bastard orphan to Washington's right hand man, rebel to war hero, loving husband caught in the country's first sex scandal to Treasury head who made an untrusting world believe in the American economy. George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Eliza Hamilton and lifelong Hamilton friend and foe, Aaron Burr, all make appearances in the tuner about America’s fiery past.

Starring Miranda in the title role, the cast also currently includes Christopher Jackson as George Washington, Leslie Odom Jr. as Aaron Burr, Phillipa Soo as Eliza Hamilton, Jonathan Groff as King George, Anthony Ramos as John Laurens/Phillip Hamilton, Daveed Diggs as Marquis De Lafayette/Thomas Jefferson, Renée Elise Goldsberry as Angelica Schuyler and Javier Muñoz as Hamilton alternate.
